I would like to distribute your application for use by my application.

I would like to include PrimoSetup.exe with our distro so all our users would would have to accept your licencing agreement.

We would increase what we charge our customers for our software as we have a standard pricing structure but would like to include the functionality that your PDF Printer would give our application.

Looking at your licencing agreement it is not clear to me if I can do this.

Also is there a way to programatically send a document to the printer and select a pre-determined file name and not have the output screen appear. Registration would also be an issue to my clients as they are not connected to the internet in most cases as they are on ships in the middle of the sea's.

I look forward to your reply

Kind Regards

Unfortunately I do not think this follows the terms of the AFPL being that you are charging for a distribution that includes primo. I am by no means a legal expert and I would urge you to consult one in order to conform to the AFPL.

You can do that, so long as you use our installer as you say.

That you cannot do. The AFPL is very clear on what you CAN charge for : (a) Access to the program via an online service, provided payment is the same regardless of the information retrieved (e.g. users pay the same whether they are downloading Primo or "random" data), and (b) distributing the program on disk, provided all of the software on the disk be redistributable AND is independent of any other product or service.

Receiving payment directly or indirectly in connection with the product (with the above exceptions) is strictly prohibited.

Also is there a way to programatically send a document to the printer and select a pre-determined file name and not have the output screen appear. Registration would also be an issue to my clients as they are not connected to the internet in most cases as they are on ships in the middle of the sea's.

We purposely left that (automated) functionality out of PrimoPDF to prevent inclusion of the product as part of an application. Additionally, while the registration will pop up, it is not mandatory.

Your solution may be to contact Artifex (www.artifex.com) and see about licensing Ghostscript commercially. If your installed base is large enough, the cost can be very reasonable (I cannot discuss cost here due to non-disclosures).

What if the amount you charged was no more or no less after embedding the product? Is this permissable then?
