You can change the printer options by right clicking the primo printer and choosing properties. On the general tab you should see a button for printing preferences. You will then see an option for layout to be either portrait or landscape. This should allow you to print your pdfs in landscape mode.

Hi,

I have the same problem as the previous poster, but in trying to print GRAPHS (CHARTS) ONLY from Excel. I have tried several combinations of Landscape/Portrait, Landscape/Landscape, Portrait/Landscape, Portratit Portrait in the Page Setup/Print Setup menus, but to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Wondering if there was anyone out there who had a solution to the above? In Excel?

I just started using it today, had the same problem (Excel file in landscape view converts to PDF in portrait view; Excel cells sideways), searched for "Excel" in the forums, saw Douglas's suggestion, tried it, but it doesn't work.

I have to manually rotate the PDF to see it the right way but people should not have to do that to view it. However I created the file should be shown that way in PDF.

I'm surprised there is no response for so long unless it's still a bug being worked out but there are only 18 threads with "Excel" in them and this thread is the only one that pertains to my problem.

Converting PowerPoint file to PDF -- file is landscape but converts over into portrait mode. Can change to landscape, but when file is saved it reverts back to portrait. Need file format to stay in portrait. Why doesn't file stay in default mode? Any suggestions?

pat-wmw...

i use acad 2002 lt and have been succesfull in plotting portrait mode using the "print" setting...this is what i've figured out...

in the printing preferences... of the primopdf printer (v2 btw) choose landscape...also in the advanced tab select ledger as the paper size...

in autocad choose PrimoPDF as the printer (the direct driver and not the *.pc3)...then in the plot settings page choose ledger as the paper size and portrait as the orientation (you may need to flip back and forth between the two modes to get it going)...hit plot...

hope this works for you--and any other with similar problems...

[edit]

just did an experiment where i placed the primopdf printer back to letter & portrait mode then tried the ledger size in acad...it still works, but this time i had to use landscape mode...go figure...

go to:
start -> settings -> printers&faxes

in window wher you can see all your printers

select

File -> server properties

there you can see all forms

A3 is defined as 297 wide and 420 tall which gives you your PORTRAIT problem

whereas adding A3landscape 420 wide 297 tall will solve your problem

how-to:

in forms tab (to where i've navigated you in begining of post)

select A3 Rotated (so new form will retain its settings), click new form, name it A3landscape (or whatever suits you)

all new forms you define will be available for you in primo pdf

and if primopdf would offer A3 Rotated from default set, that would done the trick

BUT you may have to print in PORTRAIT orientation to A3landscape to get what you want, as it turned out in my case.

Have fun :)

I have been having this same problem for years with PrimoPDF, however, today, we got two new computers in the office and I installed Primo PDF on both machines. I set them both up exactly the same way. We use Arch D paper size, which I manually set up in the custom settings, as 36 inches wide by 24 inches long. I select landscape in Autocads setup, and select Landscape in Primos Setup. One computer plots the PDF in landscape view, with the paper layout oriented the correct direction, the other machine changes the orientation to vertical, even though it is set up as landscape. How could I of set up both machines the same way but get different results? I would like for the orientation of my plots to be correct. If I select Landscape, why will Primo not orient it in that direction? I have tried following the comments in the previous posts, but no luck. Any Help?

I don't want to download v.3, have it not work, then not be able to download v.1 again since it's not available from this site anymore (I didn't save the executable file and I read that you should uninstall any previous version before downloading v.3).

Can anyone who has downloaded v.3 confirm that you can convert landscape documents into PDFs correctly?

Thank you.

It's an issue in the ghostscript library that PrimoPDF is using. This landscape issue will be addressed as soon as the issue is resolved in the future build of ghostscript library.

Im going to bump this thread- Today, the one machine that worked right is now printing stricty in portrait. Why the change all of the sudden? I have uninstalled Primo and reinstalled, but no luck. This has to be one of the most frustraiting printing problems I have ever had. Will there ever be a fix for this?

I was going to download v1.0, as that seems to be the only fix that this forum has to offer, but it appears the download has been removed by primopdf. Im going to start looking elsewhere for other software.

Just an FYI- I downloaded and installed version 3 to a third machine in our office. The layouts work fine, no problems. So I am completely unsure why version 3.0 on my machine worked for several weeks before I started having problems. Even after an uninstall and fresh re-install, still no luck on my machine. Its making me wonder if primo isnt writing over some printing related file on my computer that is not related to primo causing this error? Why does Primo work on some machines and not others? There must be a specific bug.

I just found out that if I switch the print setup from print to screen, then the orientation plots correct and displays itself properly in acrobat. However, I am wondering if I am sacraficing image quality by changing the setup?

I second that. Be great to see a time scale on this one being corrected.
