****o,

I have a PDF file that was created using a scanner and the text included in this file is recognized as an image rather than characters that I can select. Is there anyway to convert this particular file so that the characters can be selected as text to convert to a HTML file for search purposes?

I would appreciate any advice or suggestions.

You're looking for a pdf reader with OCR (optical character recognition) ScanSoft is the first one that comes to mind. Good luck!

You may try convert your PDF into TIFF image file, and then use regular OCR software (MS Imaging for example).
For converting PDF to TIFF I use virtual printer named "Universal Document Converter" (http://www.print-driver.com).

Hope it help.
