Same problem with XP failure to initialize. I have the icon on the desktop. Primo shows up in programs, in the choose printer dropdown and in in the add and remove list. I have removed and reinstalled several times...It says this program already exists do you want to replace it? I say yes...it installs again...etc.

I had the same problem that's why Itried to install nitroPDF trail version if that works. Meanwhile the system said that I need at first install Microsoft .NET Framewerk 2.0 because without that couldn't be installed nitroPDF.
After installing this framewerk I could already open primoPDF too. So that could be the solution.
I hope it helps you too. :)

A year or so back I had installed Primo pdf and it used to work perfectly. Recently, I had to reformat my hard disk and had to reinstall Primo pdf. This time it just wouldn't work. The Primo dialog box just wouldn't appear after the "OK" to print was clicked. So I uninstalled and downloaded again.

This time I started getting the "failure to initialize" message when I tried to convert files. However, after installing MS .NET Framework 2.0, everything seems to be fine. Thanks for the advice
