I have created a document using Excel and have the formatting so the Print function puts everything where it should be. I'm doing a special label on 3x4 Avery shipping label. I put the filename in the footer for reference. Then I then generate the PDF using PrimoPDF as an output device but it always forces the bottom margin to 1/2 inch while the edge of the label is really at 1/4 inch. This puts the filename in the bottom edge of the label. I've tried changing the margins in Excel but the result is always the same. I can not find any control over the PDF margins.

Definitely is a margin problem! Commercial printers prefer PDF files and require a 'bleed area' for full color printing. I was hoping to use PrimoPDF for my new consulting effort but PrimoPDF seems to have a built in margin. What's the use of 'printer' quality output if you can't bleed to the edge of the paper?

Unlike a physical printer, where ink cannot be printed to the edge of the page, a PDF printer can use the full page space. Because of this, many PDF viewers default to "Fit to Page" when printing, to avoid clipping any text near the edge of the PDF page, that may not fit into the physical page margin.
In order to help with the margin issue you may want to uncheck the "Fit to Page" option when printing.
Unfortunately our free version of PrimoPDF was not designed to provide that level of detail. If you needed full control of margins and various other settings we do have software that would accomodate such details such as our server and Webgrabber software.
