Hi,

This is in reply to http://forums.primopdf.com/showthread.php?t=1522, where it is mentioned that "PrimoPDF is free when individuals in a company install it. If the company wants MSI support to distribute enterprise wide, they will need to purchase the commercial version of PrimoPDF." by Lance.

I have a few questions, just to make sure I am on the right side of the law.

1. What is PrimoPDF's definition of enterprise wide - is it 100% of staff, or a certain percentage of staff?
2. What is MSI support?
3. What if my company, which is 3000 strong, only requires 300 staff members need to install PrimoPDF individually on their company laptops? Is there a need to acquire the commercial version?
4. What if PrimoPDF is recommended to the employees as the PDF write to use, and they were to download and install individually? Is there a need to acquire the commercial version?

Thank you for your time.

100% of the staff can use it. The free version is normal installed on desktop one system at a time, has advertizing, etc. This version is adequate for a staff of 25. There is no problems if by company recommendation, a larger number of the staff (100's) wish to install it as individual users.

The value-add of the Enterprise version is to allow better control over the user install base, and support to users by allowing control updates.

To make PrimoPDF easier to manage, maintain and to deploy in an enterprise of 100's or 1000's, then another method is probably needed individual user installation. With the Enterprise version of PrimoPDF, a PrimoPDF msi (Microsoft installer) is available and can be easily deployed through the use of a Group Policy. By defining a user as part of a group that gets PrimoPDF, PrimoPDF is automatically installed on their system when the user logs in or removed/updated. This is available with the Enterprise version of PrimoPDF. For more detail, refer to the following article:
