Could anyone tell me if this file size normal?

I used Primo to create PDF file for a 250 pages document, all text no color, the file size turn up to be over 4MB. Comparing to my old PDF files with the same number of pages created using Adobe, their file size are under 2MB. I have tried to configured Primo as many ways as possible, but I still can't get it down below 4MB.

I wonder if this file size is normal for PrimoPDF. I'd have to say it's rather big, I still have a load of documents to archive. Can anyone please suggest a way to reduce the file size, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

There are several conversion options that can be used. Screen and Ebook should significantly reduce the size of the PDF (it downsizes images, and only includes character of font sets that are used). If you need more specific, settings, you can use Custom to tailor the results to get you the best look to size benefits.

It sounds like you are using the Print and Prepress options (should be used when the PDF will eventually be hardcopy printed and need the results). These pre-settings will provide the highest resolution for images and will included the whole font sets to allow the PDF to be edited later.

Other items that can effect the size of the file is the number of non standard fonts used and dependent on the number of font sizes used.

Actually, I did try all the options available, including screen and ebook. On the custom, I have try downsizing every options possible, change the dpi to the lowest. The result is the poor quality pdf and yet the file size still over 4MB, while the similar pdf files I created with adobe years ago are just under 2MB with better quailty.

I'm having a similar problem. I have a TWO page word document which is only 465 KB but when I convert it to a PDF with PrimoPDF, the file size is 2M.

Like kupokopu, I have played with all the available options, but have not been able to decrease the file size.
