****o,

I use primo pdf since a few weeks after using other similar products.
a good product indeed. ;)
using latest version i think 4.01

i have one problem when trying to copy generated files for backup.
all security options are to blank in primo
i use syncback to copy on my home lan on a backup network folder from my other pc

i have all time an error report from syncback explaining me ist impossible to access to the generated file : "can't copy file access denied (5)"

when i do it manually, it works !

any suggestion?

2 pc are in xp sp2 with the latest windows update.

If your file is still in use by your other program primoPDF may not be able to get full access to file until it completes its process. I would suggest trying to put a delay in between the two programs to see if that will resolve your issue.

Jason,

Thank you for your help on this case. :)
Despite my english, i will try to explain clearly

two identical pc on a home basic lan network (workgroup, XP pro SP2 updated, netgear router dg834)

i create an excel in a shared folder of pc one
from this excel, i create a pdf with primo on the same folder of pc one
all security options of primo are to none (password...)
i can open and copy the two files on pc one without any problem.

i go on pc N°2, which has the backup copy with syncback
the synckback is launched manually (not automatic, so not at the same time)
i launch it for example one hour or the day after creation of pdf
doesn't copy

now manually from pc N°2, i go on the folder of pc one
i succeed directly opening and/or transfering excel file
i have an error trying the same with pdf as if the file was used by an other application. no direct opening, and refuse to transfer

more interesting. if on the pc one, i open the pdf and copy it on the same folder, i succeed opening and transfering file from pc 2!

so i suspect a problem on the properties of the original pdf (copy protection from an other user???)

i have the same level of acrobat on the two pcs (8.12)
before using primo, this probleme wasn't existing with other pdf printers

hope it will help you to diagnose
if you need, i can send you a generated pdf file

regards

When printing in PrimoPDF please check the security button, It is possible that security was put into place via these settings during the creation process. Please be sure all of the security settings are turned off in this location.

Jason,

i confirm all settings are to none in the security fiels except combo "always use these settings" which is on
properties of generated file are read only : no, hide file : no

i really think about access rights which are not allowed to another windows user on the original pdf file

If you can post a link for me to download the file I can check the security settings on it to see if it is something specific to the file or if it is a security or access issue with the directory.

Ok, I got the files. I took a look at the files and I do not see anything wrong with them. Security on them is pretty basic so I don't see any problems at all there. I was able to copy, move, open, etc... both files without any problems with the security.

It simply appears to be an issue with syncback. If syncback requires a username and password to function it may simply be using an account that does not have the appropriate access to the locations.

I think I know the issue here.

It's not an issue with PDF security, it's an issue with Windows security on the file itself. When the PDF is created it's not created under the security context of the end user....it's created under the security context of the Windows spooler service (which happens to be LocalSystem). What is probably happening is that the file is getting created but the security is incorrect on the file...right click on the file, select Properties and click on the Security tab. What does it say? Odds are it prohibits (or doesn't include) the user you log in under for syncback.

I don't check on here often, but I hope that helps.
