Dear Sir,
I have for some time been using the free version of your excellent software Primo PDF. I am a small home user and has benefited a lot from it. My friends on my recommendation are also using this software. It's ease of use, simplicity and speed is worth mentioning. Please accept my thanks for having provided this software free of cost.
A few days ago I had downloaded the Version 2.0 of Primo Pdf. The improved version is good. The option to protect the document is great. By adding comments we can mark our pdf.
But it has some problems in it. I am from India and I use Hindi fonts on Win XP with Indic support. I use PDF files for sharing files with my friends over the internet. I am using Office XP 2002 and Acrobat Reader 7.0

Firstly it created a very heavy file for screen(PDF Settings). For print and e-book (PDF Setting) the file size was ok. It was rather smaller than the previous version PDF. Also the screen (PDF setting) output file was not very good to view. print and e-book PDF setting is serving the purpose better. This problem occours with Hindi files only, with English fonts the file size and file view was alright.
Secondly the file designed in Landscape orientation shows output in Portrait orientation. Every time we have to rotate the file view in Acrobat Reader. This also makes difficult to guess the contents of the file in preview given by Windows Explorer. This problem exists for print PDF Setting but not for screen PDF setting.
Thirdly I couldn't use the password protection feature. The file generated was erroneous and the Acrobat Reader refused to open the file. A zero kb size file was generated.
Fourthly the visual interface is not very nice to see. Even on Win XP the buttons and the dialog box appear like that of Win 98. Older version interface was good. If possible please provide some eye pleasing and simple design.
The file generation time in new version is bit larger. The software runs a little slower. Not a big problem if the above problems are rectified.
Due to the above reasons I decided to switch over to the earlier version of Primo PDF. When I reinstalled the older version after uninstalling the newer one I got an error message saying "Invalid DLL". Message appears when I hit the "Print" Button. Printing is aborted thereafter. Please solve this problem of mine. How can I remove or replace the dll file to allow older version to work.
I hope you shall also check the above said problems and provide a better software.

Thanks and Regards

Just a thought but have you search the Registry to remove all the old entries from Version 2.0?

I only see 9 DLL files in the new version..so it should be pretty easy to hunt them down.

****o RobertS,
Thanks for the suggestion. But I don't know how to modify the registry. I had opened the registry using the regedit command. Should I remove all the enteries everywhere named PrimoPDF and Active PDF or some selected ones need to be removed. I am not well versed with the details of registry and dll's. I hope it shall not jeopardise my system. Please advice.

The easiest way to remove the DLL issue would be to uninstall your version of Primo and then Complete delete the PrimoPDF directory from C:\Program files\ that will remove any DLL complications. If your not familiar with the registry we should probably leave that for 'just in case'

I would very much like to go back to the previous version. I had been using it for a year with no problems what so ever. I continue to have issues with version 2 and am going to have to stop using it. WE NEED THE OPTION TO USE THE PREVIOUS VERSION !!!

RobertS,
Your suggestions is precicely the route I tried, but to no avail.
There are indeed 9 DLL's within the Program Files\ActivePDF directory, but the install procedure also throws a few DLLs elsewhere... and I think it's these that are problematic.

Deleting all references to ActivePDF in the Registry has not helped me to run the older version - it apparently installs okay, but throws up the DLL error message when I try to print.

Since the "new improved version" inserts major blank sections over documents when I try to print, it is actually useless.... which is a shame, because this USED to be a very useful piece of software.

Well, I tried digging around, locating all the DLLs that were NOT installed when trying to put the old version back in again (as listed in the log files), checking version numbers and replacing them when possible (happen to have my OLD Disk available with the programs etc all installed!). Deleted Registry files relating to ActivePDF or PrimoPDF. Reinstalled the old version...

 DLL Invalid.

 Oh well, no point in pursuing this any further. I'll tolerate the nag screen on the 995 PDF creator. At least it actually prints the SAME document successfully. Pity, 'cause I used to like PrimoPDF and recommended it to other folks. :(

Dear Sir,
We have been for quite long been using the version 2.0. But at the same time we have compromised on various issues as is evident from the large no. of postings.
I think it is now overdue that we have the next version of the masterpiece. Version 3.0 is now eagerly waited.

Thanks and Regards,
