Hi,
I do not get a PDF file created When I print to the PrimoPDF printer. I am using version 2.0 of PrimoPDF and was formally using an older version and Windows 2000 with SP4. Right now, I am only trying to get this to work with a full administrator account on the local system. The installation goes smoothly without any problems. However, I did have a problem uninstalling the older version prior to installation version 2.0 for the first time (the old version would not uninstall - so, I had to remove it manually including: files, registry settings, printer driver, print monitor). Regardless of whether or not I reboot, version 2.0 does not work for me at all. I have verified all registry settings, INI settings of PrimoPDF and all are correct
My registry key value HKLM\SOFTWARE\AFPL Ghostscript\8.50\GS_LIB includes a path in it that does not exist:
E:\Program Files\activePDF\PrimoPDF\gs\gs8.50\Resource
Furthermore, I have used SysInternals File Monitor to see if I am getting any errors off the file system. Everything appears to go normally (I can attach that log if it would be helpful) with the obvious exception of when the above path is queried it results in an error, but the printing process continues. I also noted that the spooler files get created and then deleted, which is what I expect. I do not have any other GhostScript programs, libraries, DLL's, etc installed on this system.
I enabled the log file and debug output of the Primo PDF print port and did find something interesting, everytime, I get the following line as the second to last line in the log file:
PrimoMon EndDocPort: 0 bytes written to printer
This is regardless of which program I am printing from. There are no entries in the system event logs either. Additionally, according to the same log file, the number of bytes written to the port are precisely the same number of bytes as are pending to be written (as they should be); this fact is evidenced by the log entries of the form:
PrimoMon WritePort: about to write %d bytes to port
PrimoMon WritePort: OK count=%d written=%d
Where the %d is the number of bytes (think printf()).
If requested, I will be more than happy to post this log file as well.
I have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 7.0.3 installed. I have tried setting PrimoPDF not to "Automatically launch default PDF viewer upon completion" with precisely the same results.
Please help, I can't figure out what the problem is, and I think this is a great product and would love to continue to use it.
