I've installed PrimoPDF ver 2 on my computer - WinXP.

I've got several printers I print to. Each person that logs into my machine always has PrimoPDF set as the default printer, and it confuses them, they're expecting it to print to the local printer.

How do you stop PrimoPDF from setting itself as the default printer?

Thanks for any info.

Ooops, of course I didnt find this same question asked before, but
JEMERTZ wrote a reply to the same question in another forum.
Thanks, I tested it, and you are absolutely correct.
Cheers.

I'm the CLC (Computer Learning Center) manager at the University of Missouri - Rolla, and we have figured out how Microsoft selects default printers, at least under XP. It's probably the same with Win 2000 also. If the user's profile does not have a default printer selected, or if that default printer is not installed on the current computer, the last printer alphabetically is set as the default. I know it's a stupid system, but that's how it works. Therefore, we name the printer that we want to be the default "UMR Default (some useful name)" where 'some useful name' is a normal description of the printer, such as a room number or printer model. Since UMR comes late in the alphabet, this scheme works for us.

Since Primo PDF is late in the alphabet, I expect that what is happening is that it is always the last alphabetical printer, so if you would rename another to start with a letter after P, you could set it to be the default printer for students.

Good luck.

You can simply open your printers control panel, right click the printer you want as default and choose "Set as default" That should take care of it.
