Directories and Saves
I have PrimoPDF set to install for our users via Novell ZENworks. I have two questions, one regarding file saves, one regarding the TEMP.PS file.
Can the output be saved to default directory of my choosing (ala My Documents)? Can the TEMP.PS file be saved to the user's TEMP directory? This will save us from relaxing permissions on the PrimoPDF directory. Great product. Keep up the good work. David |

David,
>>Can the output be saved to default directory of my choosing (ala My Documents)? >>Can the TEMP.PS file be saved to the user's TEMP directory? This will save us from relaxing permissions on the PrimoPDF directory. Unfortunately, no to both questions and there are no plans to do either at this time. We did not expose customized settings as that functionality is available in our commercial product, activePDF Composer. Thanks, Tim Sullivan activePDF, Inc. |

Tim -
Thanks so much for the reply. I did fool around the Registry a little bit and noticed I can have the "DefaultDir" set to H:\My Documents. Which basically means that when the user clicks the 'Browse' button, that's the directory they start in. As for the TEMP.PS issue, I'll let my boss know. Thanks again for your help, David |

Without the browse action, the file is saved in the %windir%/system32 directory. And if the user doesn't append .pdf to the filename in the first text box then not only is it stored in the system32 directory, the file is stored without an extention. Free and, at first blush, a really good product - but to consider filing the output in the system32 directory other than the default directory "by default" and not forcing the proper file extention doesn't seem to me to fall under customization to me. |
